39 days…key phrase only made to #18

I am supposed to be learning and improving with each backlinks project I test.  Oh well,  not this time.

For this project I used a “How to ‘keyphrase’.  I will not mention it here because it is a low competition phrase with 22K local searches per month.  If my site does not make to the top, I will try another.  I feel it will be easy to get #1 with this phrase if everything is done right.  The last case study I did gave me poor results.  I want to repeat the same strategies to see if the same results come back.

Day 1 = Keyword research and  6 original articles were ordered to be written.

2 = Registered exact match domain name.

3 = Set up blog following my blog setup page.

4 = Submitted my 1st article to ezine and posted article 2 to the blog as a post.

7 = Article 1 spun and submitted to authority article directories.  Also posted a slide show to slideshare.

8 = Article 3 to ezine and article 4 posted to blog.

10 = Article 3 spun to directories,  5 to ezine,  and 6 to blog post at web site.

15 = 1st Month fiverr gigs ordered:

• Social bookmarks
• 2.0 profile links
• Edu links
• 9 angela links page rank of 9
• Web 2.0 properties with link attack.
• One video made and submitted to video directories.

18 = Current ranking for my key phrase is #96

23 = Rank is #31

24 = Rank is #24

25 = Now at #17.  Looking good so far for less than 30 days into this project.

32 = Ordered 6 more original articles and posted articles 2,4,6 to blog.  1,3,5 posted at ezine as originals,  then auto spun those 3 and posted them at the article directories.  I did this over the next 2 weeks.

35 = Made another slide show and uploaded to slide share and the 4 other slide show sites.

36 = Did my own blog commenting to 25 relevant sites.

38 = 2nd Month fiverr gigs that were ordered:

• Social bookmarks
• Web 2.0 properties with link attack.

These are the only 2 gigs I ordered for this month.

39 = Lost one position in ranking.  Now at #18

53 = I have finished spinning and posted the rest of the articles.

54 = Site dropped to #45.  What is going on now?  Must be a Google dance going on.  Or my auto spun articles are starting to hurt my rankings like the last site.  This is just a guess.  I have no proof that this is the cause.

63 = I guess the dance is over.  Site is ranking at #23 now.  I was ready to give up on this site when it drop in rank.  Maybe not all is lost.  I will see if it keeps gaining rank and maybe order a seo package for the site.

65 = Not all is lost with my article marketing,  just noticed the site now has a page rank of 2!

80 = My webpage is still bouncing around #30.  I ordered a seo package from a warrior forum member.  I will have to wait and see if the site climbs the rankings.

95 = OK, the seo package I ordered is completed. This should move my site up a few spots. Right now at #29

106 = I waited a few days to give the seo service some time to fester.  The site is now listed at position #20.  Looks like this service was successful.  I will reorder a package sometime soon.

118 = site is now listing at #18

126 = #16

131 = still climbing, now at #13

137 = Oh no! site is dropping fast. Must have been slapped.  Another one bites the dust.

Not to worry, I am doing all of this to learn the best methods of SEO.  I am now in my 8th month of training.  Wow, time does fly.

Backlinks project #4 is already closing in on 3 months.   I will post it here soon!
